Lookin At Lucky, winner of the Preakness Stakes, will celebrate his birthday in May and locals are invited to celebrate the event with owner Mike Pegram, Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Martin Garcia. The celebration will take place at the Carson Valley inn and Bodines and the owner, the trainer and the jockey will sign autographs, as well as other members of the horse racing world.
It has already been confirmed that Lookin At Lucky, who finished sixth in the Kentucky Derby and will turn 3 on Friday, will not be part of the Belmont Stakes field since Baffert and Pegram have decided to let him rest for a while. As informed by trainer Baffert, Lookin At Lucky is now in his home stable in California and will not be at the birthday bash.
“I took one look at him and knew this horse would be a champion one day,” Baffert stated in a press release. “I immediately called Mike Pegram and told him he just bought a new horse!” Baffert is a well known top horse racing trainer and has won nine Triple Crown legs during his career. He is part of the Thoroughbred Racing's National Hall of Fame since 2009.
As to owner Pegram, he also won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes in 1998 with Real Quiet. In the same year he won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies with Silverbulletday and in 1999 the Kentucky Oaks. Pegram was also the owner of Captain Steve, High Stakes Player, Queen of Money, Miss Gibson County andWheeler Oil.
