Elite Horse races in Turkmenistan

Like every year, the last Sunday of April was a festive day for Turkmenistan, a day when they celebrate the Turkmen Horse Day, which is also their national day. For this festivity and for the development that the horse races industry has had in the country, Turkmenistan in known as the Central Asian largest super modern equestrian center.

For the celebration of the Turkmen Horse Day, most villages and cities in the country organize fairs and festivals where they enjoy concerts and competitions, specially horse races. The most important festive events will be held at the hippodrome of the Ruhabat district and will feature races of elite horses.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmen president sent a message to the people, horse breeders and fans of horses that said: "People of Turkmenistan highly value their "heavenly horses" which they inherited from their ancestors. Today, we take it as a sacred duty to popularize ever more our worldwide famous horses that strike the imagination by their pristine beauty and grace and amazing speed. We work seriously in this direction."

Nowadays, Turkmenistan is pursuing the development of its horse racing industry which includes a comprehensive selection breeding to increase the elite stock of the world-famous Ahalteke horses and the construction of world-standard hippodromes to hold international equestrian competitions in the country.
