Next Saturday Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra will race in Churchill Downs. Only other four fillies will race against her for the $200,000 Grade II Fleur de Lis Handicap. She comes from consecutive defeats, after finishing second in her two starts this year. The Fleur de Lis will be the sixth race in the program.

Rachel Alexandra finished second to Zardana in the $200,000 New Orleans Ladies, her first start in more than six months. Afterwards, she lost by a head to Unrivaled Belle in Churchill's Grade II La Troienne on Kentucky Oaks Day. They were not bad races, though she was unbeaten in eight starts last year.

Besides, she became the first filly in 85 years to win the Preakness Stakes, she broke Ruffian’s record by winning Belmont's Mother Goose, she went on to beating colt champion Summer Bird in the Haskell and she ended her year by becoming the first female horse in history to beat older male horses in Woodward.

Owner Jess Jackson said they were disappointed in the weights at all the locations before they chose the Fleur de Lis. “It's not really in the best interest of the horse to keep piling weight on. But she's at the point where she can treat it as a prep race. It's a lighter field, it's her home and I want to show her off to the fans.”
